After going back on their word to stop selling fur. Kurt Geiger is once again the target of a vigorous campaign Nationwide. As one of only a handful of stores still selling fur in the South of England KG can expect on-going demonstrations outside their stores until they finally cease their vile trade in fur.

It was a warm day when the fur free crew descended on the Kurt Geiger store in the Centre of Brighton. Setting up stalls around the store, we soon had the store empty of customers & our ranks swelled as shoppers became protesters because they were so shocked that Brighton had a shop secretly selling fur.

Although the day was too warm for Angry Bunny & Death to attend (well we don't want to accused of animal cruelty, forcing Angry Bunny out into all that heat!). We still had examples of the horrors makers of fur products stoop to, with cat skin boots, whole mink wraps & other hideous items on display.

The day was a great success with Kurt Geiger suffering the embarrassment of having their secret shame being exposed & the campaign receiving a big boost with new members & many people pledging never to shop at Kurt Geiger again!

From Mr P

The day started at 12 o'clock when the fur-free posé descended upon an
unsuspecting Kurt Geiger's shoes store. Expecting to rake in their usual
blood money by duping the public into spending their hard earned cash on
filthy fur, they where instead destined to have a very slow day indeed!

Unpacking the stall with both Death and Angry Bunny both making an
appearance we knew it was going to be a good day!

Standing outside Kurt Geiger we turned away customer after customer with
Angry Bunny holding a donated fur wrap in a donated trap it really turned
the customers off shopping at a store that supports the vile fur trade.

There were crowds that day, but only at the anti-fur stall, not in Kurt
Geiger's empty store. The anti-fur crew were kept nice & warm during the
bitterly cold day running about, keeping up with the demand for leaflets,
people asking for info on how they could help.

At the end of the day their was some concern by the protesters, no shop
staff had dared to show their faces, not a peep had been heard from them, we
were worried! Angry Bunny decided that they had to check just to make sure
the staff of Kurt Geiger were safe, so in he rushed. Infact he was so
concerned he even forgot to put down the donated fur creatures he was
carrying in both hands. Going into the shop he was shocked that the staff
didn't appreciate his concern & busily whispered to each other "Just ignore
it!" to each other as he tried to get their attention waving his arms about
& bouncing about the store.

Seeing the staff were ok, but just very rude, Angry Bunny hopped off to an
nice cruelty-free roast dinner that the Cowley Club had put on for all the
local animal activists, so it was a very happy bunny indeed that left the
demo (unlike those Kurt Geiger people)!

This is only the beginnings of the campaign against Kurt Geiger store, so they had better get used to slow days until they decide its not worth them selling fur in their stores!

:: PREVIOUS DEMOS ::

Hi Mr P here...

... just thought I'd let everyone know about today's really successful anti-fur demos in Brighton.

It started soon after 1PM when we visited Gogs, where the Argus reporters and photographer had a field day taking pictures and interviewing activists on the demo.

Gogs, having bolted their door, did very little trade while activists informed the general public about it's involvement in the vile fur trade.

Satisfied that Gogs (and the general public) had got the message, the demo moved off to Moda Italia, where the mayhem continued.

Finally both Profile & Kazoo were hit by the demonstration and a tired bunch of demonstrators called it a day and went home knowing that the message that fur wouldn't be tolerated in Brighton had been pounded into the heads of the shops in town.

They know we will be back again and again and again until they finally give up their trade in misery.

Hopefully see you again if you were there last time, or see you at the next outing of the furfree crew VERY SOON! Meanwhile enjoy the pictures.

Mr P (Assistant Campaigns Coordinator Brighton)
